Shipping containers generally come in standard sizes—most commonly 20-foot and 40-foot units. Below is a guide to help you choose the right condition for your needs:
As-Is
These containers are selected from the top of the stack and offered in their current state, with no guarantees. They may have leaks, visible rust, dents, and other damage. Ideal for low-cost storage of items that don’t require full weather protection.
Wind and Water Tight (WWT)
WWT containers are guaranteed to be weatherproof, with no holes. While they may show signs of external wear such as rust, dings, and dents, they’re excellent for dry personal storage where appearance isn’t a top priority.
Cargo Worthy (CW)
CW units are certified to be structurally sound and weatherproof, suitable for international shipping after inspection. They usually remain export-eligible for 3–5 years post-certification. Expect some cosmetic imperfections, such as rust or dents. Great for storage and shipping needs.
IICL (Institute of International Container Lessors)
These containers meet stricter structural standards and are approved for longer-term shipping use—typically 5–7 years. They are also guaranteed weatherproof, though still may show minor rust or dents. Ideal for both personal storage and global logistics where durability matters.
One Trip (New)
These containers have made just one trip from the factory and are the closest to brand new. They are clean, rust-free, and free of visible damage. Fully weatherproof and perfect for storage or conversion projects where appearance and condition are key.
